It's an unfortunate truth that whenever people come together in an on-line forum, reiterating the importance of basic etiquette and civility often turns out to be necessary. I suppose it's better to do that now, right at the outset, rather than after someone decides to be obnoxious. So, the forum rules:

• Do not be condescending. People are here to learn and the very last thing that they need is someone trying to make them feel inferior or unintelligent. If you willfully attempt to make anyone feel either way, you'll be banned.
• Do not be offensive. Do not use vulgar language or derogatory slang. Never link to offensive websites or post offensive pictures. If something is offensive, it has no place here at Math4Humans. "Offensive" encompasses, but is not limited to: racist, pornographic, or religious material.
• Do not ask 'prank' questions. Whatever questions you post will be taken seriously. People will devote time and resources to helping you, so please do not waste their efforts. Don't mock people by asking questions that you already know the answer to. Expel your energy and rid your boredom, instead, by posting helpful guides on the site or in the forums.
• Do not spam the forum. Posting links for helpful websites, videos, books, etc is fine - indeed it is encouraged. Posting links for products or services you stand to gain from monetarily is spam... even if it happens to be helpful.
• Do not do another member's work. Even if it makes you feel smart, and even if someone else believes that you're not hurting them by doing so, doing someone else's work goes against the entire spirit of Math4Humans. It doesn't make the person a better person, student, or mathematician. In fact, it usually makes them worse. Try to explain the concept instead.
